Pet Description

Dusty became a a part of my life when I was just 3. My parents got her in 2001 when she was 4 months old from a college students who couldn't take care of her. Apparently she was in the newspaper and around thirty other interested people called, but they chose us! Her name was Daisy but we renamed her Dusty, due to the clumps of hair she would leave all over the place and all the dusting that had to be done. My home life wasn't always the best when I was little, but I would always talk to Dusty about everything. I even made up a gibberish language to talk to her thinking she could understand me. When she was younger and got excited she would run around the yard at what seemed like 50 mph and the game was to try to tag her, which was hard. Dusty barked at a lot at people who walked by and would stick her head under the wooden fence to see them or hop up 3 feet in the air to see over it. One time she got out and ran right up to a dog walking by and instantly started playing with her. We sometimes made squirrel sounds and she would run around the yard looking up the trees to find it. Whenever we said the word bath she would know what it meant and try to sneak away. She used to jump into the wheelbarrow in the yard and lay on the cold gravel inside. She loved to play in the sprinkler. We would turn off the hose and she would walk up to the sprinkler to check it out, and right when she did we would turn it back on and she would attack the water. Her favorite toy was Ducky, any stuffed duck we bought she would immediately know it's Ducky and take it happily. Even up to her last year she would once and a while play with Ducky. Her hair color has even changed from white to cream, probably due to her loving to lay out in the sun when she could. She made it to almost 14, and in her last week I slept downstairs with her, sometimes right next to her in a sleeping bag. I talked to her before I fell asleep. The night before she died I told her its alright if she needs to let go, and she did. I'm glad I was able to spend quality time with her. She was a good, unique dog and I will never forget her. We love you Dusty and always will.
