Luna was our best friend and loyal companion, but most of all, she was a huge blessing in our lives. She meant the world to us, and losing her has been an enormous loss for our family. It seems so unfair that such a perfect dog could be taken away from a horrible disease such as cancer. However, we will always be thankful for the love Luna gave us every second of her time here in this world.
The day we met her seemed like only yesterday. All the happy wiggles from all the puppies seemed overwhelming. However, God hand-picked our little angel from the rest of her canine family. Since that day, Luna granted us endless love, laughter, and pure joy. Luna loved everyone she met and would do anything to make those around her laugh and feel happy. Once Luna figured out her behavior made others around her laugh, she would repeat that behavior time and time again. We will never forget Luna’s favorite things like hiking, swimming, other dogs, eating cookies and num-nums, playing with her toys, opening presents, digging in the sand in Rockport, ‘chasing’ squirrels, and picking up sissy from school. She even loved her unusual sister "JuJu', a rescued Broad Breasted turkey. Luna's intelligence was far greater than any dog, and some humans, we have known. She knew if we were happy, sad, and everything in between. She seemed to understand every word we said to her and she would study our body language to better understand our feelings. Luna by far was the best listener and her eyes spoke volumes in return.
Luna was the best representation of her often misunderstood breed. She did not have a mean bone in her body and sought love from everyone who met her. She always wanted the person next to her to have a hand on her as she felt best when she was as close to others as possible. When Luna was diagnosed in October of 2020, she clearly did not feel well. Even while at Ohio State and other local hospitals, she never once complained or acted out in frustration. Instead, she seemed to know the humans around her were trying to help her get better. Our family is incomplete without her and our tears are endless but she will forever remain in our hearts as the best dog in the world. We loved Luna more than anything, and we know she’s getting all the love she deserves in heaven.
You’re the best girl ever 'Baby BaLuna', 'Luna Loo'. You will forever be our puppy and we thank you for being in our lives. You are now free to chase all the squirrels you want and eat ice cream and cookies endlessly. Although your 'guard dog' skills were a bit weak, you can now guard the gates of heaven with your kisses and love forever. We will see you again sweet girl.
