On the day I adopted you & your brother, you were the quiet little kitten hiding underneath the sofa, too scared to come out, and your brother had just gotten a flea dip and was all wet and sad. Well, of course I loved you right that second, and I took you both home. I tried out several different names for you; but one day, a friend just looked at you and said “He´s a Mookie!”, so that was the name that stuck. You were a well-traveled fellow who lived in so many different places with me; we moved ten times in our eighteen years together. You and I were so sad when your brother, Furry, left us a few years ago; the first night without him was the one and only time you jumped up on the bed to sleep on me. You were timid and liked to stick close to home, seeking out warm places to curl up and sleep or just watch the hustle and bustle from your comfy perch. Everyone always said you had the softest fur, and we miss petting you and hearing you meow for more while you nip gently at our hands. You patiently allowed two curious boys learn how to pet and play with you, feed you, sing to you, and try to get you to play with cat toys, and now they miss their Mookie too; you´ve been a part of their lives since they can remember. We sat with you, comforted you and talked to you in your last hours, at home where everything you love was near. Now we´re comforted in knowing that you lived a long life, full of affection, adventure, lots of good things to eat, and lots of memories for us to keep in our hearts.
